BIOGRAPHY:
Catastrophe Team was the brain child of
Mark and Brian
formed in the summer of 99'. Originally formed as a three-piece rock band
(or, perhaps an indie-rock band), the band evolved around some cover songs
from favourite bands such as Superchunk and
GBV [Guided By Voices], and originals
mainly written by Mark and Brian, but also included a select few from
Mike Stasko. As the band's sound grew
to incorporate keyboards and various other instruments, Catastrophe Team
enlisted Matt Baker to fill in some gaps
on bass.
The band's sound rapidly changed and became a somewhat
unique mix of straight-melody-indie -rock and deep instrumentation. Eventually,
too many musical and personal differences resulted in a split of the band.

pop/rock element, check Bloemfontein.

THE CATASTROPHE TEAM MEMOIRS:
A Quote from Mark Trudell:
"Someone once told us we sounded great at the *Fantastic! Pop Festival,
but one of my favourite shows was one for a bunch of kids in the basement
of a church. it was right after we recorded our first (and only) EP. We
did it pretty much acoustic (with electric guitars)... which means it
was low-down. Brian had just gotten his first keyboard and he played that.
Mike played bass and we
had Eric Schiller sit in on the traps, 'cause it was not complex or anything.
The kids seemed to really dig it. We didn't really know a lot of people
there, so it was really cool. It was lax and we were all comfortable.
I think we sounded great! My best memory is of the band right there,
besides that of just Brian and I writing songs."
